Key takeaways

5
  • SpigotMC and Hangar are plugin shops; BuiltByBit and PixelEast also cover builds, setups and textures.
  • Modrinth is a good place for free plugins and resource packs, but its rules page says nothing about selling paid items.
  • polymart.org now redirects to voxel.shop, but we could not check what it lists.
  • Check supported versions, last update, reviews, dependencies and support route on every listing before paying.
  • Test any purchase on a copy of your server with a backup of the live one.

This post is for server owners who need a plugin, a spawn build, a ready-made setup, a texture pack or a 3D model and are not sure where to shop. By the end you will know what each big marketplace lists, which one fits which job, and what to check on a listing before you spend anything.

A note on how we wrote it: we only state what we could confirm from the marketplaces' own pages. Where a site blocked our automated visit, we say so instead of guessing.

1. SpigotMC

The resources section of SpigotMC is the long-running home of Spigot and BungeeCord plugins.

What it does well

  • Size: the resources page lists over 90,000 resources, most of them plugins for Spigot itself.
  • Both free and premium resources sit side by side, with community ratings, reviews and download counts on each listing.
  • You can sort by last update, submission date, rating, downloads or title, which makes it easy to spot abandoned plugins.
  • Free plugins such as LuckPerms show their supported Minecraft versions, latest version and release date right on the page.

Who it suits

Owners who want a plugin, free or paid, and who value a long review history. Its categories are Spigot, Bungee (two kinds), Universal, Web, Standalone and Data Pack, so it is a plugin shop first.

Watch out for

We saw no category for builds, setups or textures there. For those, look at the other marketplaces below. Premium selling rules were not something we could load, so read the listing itself for terms.

2. BuiltByBit

BuiltByBit lists plugins, setups, builds, textures and models, and its listings carry category labels such as Minecraft server setups, Minecraft builds, Minecraft textures and Minecraft models.

What it does well

  • One account for plugins, setups, builds, configs, textures and models.
  • Listings show release and last update dates, a review count and an average rating.
  • Free resources exist too, next to paid ones.

Who it suits

Owners building a full server, who want a setup, the maps and the menu configs from one place.

Watch out for

A fresh listing can have zero reviews, so lean on the description, screenshots and update dates. BuiltByBit blocked our automated visit to its front page, so we only describe what we confirmed on individual listings. Check pricing and refund terms on the listing you are buying.

3. Modrinth

Modrinth is an open source platform for Minecraft content. It hosts mods, resource packs, data packs, shaders, modpacks, plugins and servers.

What it does well

  • Free access to everything we checked. LuckPerms, for instance, is free and MIT licensed there, with around 2.8 million downloads shown.
  • Resource packs and data packs sit next to plugins, handy for textures.
  • Its content rules require uploaders to own or be licensed to share what they post, and ban unauthorised reuploads.

Who it suits

Owners who want free, well-presented plugins and resource packs and like open source projects.

Watch out for

Its rules page does not describe selling paid resources, so do not count on it for premium setups or builds. Modrinth also states it is not an official Minecraft service.

4. Hangar

Hangar is the plugin repository run by the PaperMC team, aimed at Paper, Velocity and Waterfall.

What it does well

  • It is made by the people behind Paper, so it matches the software most servers run.
  • Plugins are sorted into categories such as Admin Tools, Economy, Gameplay and World Management.
  • Authors can automate uploads with a Gradle plugin, which tends to keep listings current.

Who it suits

Paper and Velocity owners looking for a plugin for a specific job, particularly if you want the Paper team's own listing site.

Watch out for

Its front page did not explain pricing or paid plugin rules, so check each plugin's page. It is plugin-only: no builds, setups or textures.

5. Voxel.shop (Polymart)

Polymart is a name many owners know. The polymart.org address now redirects to voxel.shop.

What it does well

That redirect is as much as we can confirm: voxel.shop blocked our automated visit, so we could not check its categories, sellers, fees or refund terms.

Who it suits

Owners who already know what they want to find there. Open the site yourself to see what it lists.

Watch out for

Read the buyer terms before paying. We do not state any price or policy here because we could not verify them.

6. PixelEast

PixelEast calls itself a marketplace for premium digital resources, covering Minecraft and Hytale.

What it does well

  • It lists plugins, building schematics, complete modifications, textures and cosmetics.
  • Products go through automatic and manual approval before they go live, according to the site.
  • You can chat with creators directly for support, and billing details are not shared with them.
  • Downloads carry a unique account marker, and support goes through tickets.

Who it suits

Owners who want premium builds, schematics or plugins and like having a direct chat line to the creator.

Watch out for

Check that the plugin you need is listed before you plan around it. The site's footer names Lootridge s.r.o. as the operator. We could not load its terms page, so check refunds on the checkout.

Where our own store fits

We run arrowtan.store. One item there is the free Navigation Arrow Models pack, made by our team: five animated arrows as Blockbench files, handy for spawn hubs and parkour. It is one option among the above, not a replacement.

Sites not covered here

Other shops exist beyond the six above. Run any of them through the checklist below, and buy from the author's own listing on a marketplace whose terms you can read.

Check a listing before you buy

  1. Version support. Match the listed Minecraft versions to your server. If you are about to update, read our guide on updating Paper without breaking plugins first.
  2. Update date. A resource not updated for a long time may not work on a recent version.
  3. Reviews and replies. Read how the author answers problems, not just the star rating.
  4. Dependencies. Note which other plugins it needs, and whether they are free or paid.
  5. Support route. Find where you will ask for help (Discord, chat or the listing's discussion).
  6. Terms. Read the licence and refund notes on the marketplace.

Install what you bought

Most plugins are a jar file you drop in the plugins folder. Builds and setups come with their own notes, so follow those first. For a plugin jar:

  1. Upload the jar to the plugins folder of your server, for example scp MyPlugin.jar user@host:/path/to/server/plugins/.
  2. Restart the server and watch the console for the plugin's enable line.
  1. Open the File Manager, go to the plugins folder and upload the jar (or use SFTP).
  2. Restart from the Console page and read the output for errors.
  1. Open the Files / FTP page, go to plugins and upload the jar.
  2. Restart the server from the console and read the output.

If you buy a spawn or lobby, our guide to lobby design shows what to set up around the build. Crates are another common purchase, covered in the crates plugin picks for 2026.

Which marketplace for which job

  • A plugin for Paper or Spigot: SpigotMC, Hangar or Modrinth, depending on where the author posts. Voxel.shop may also be worth checking, but we could not confirm what it lists.
  • A full setup or builds: BuiltByBit or PixelEast.
  • A 3D model: BuiltByBit.
  • A texture pack or resource pack: BuiltByBit, Modrinth or PixelEast.
  • Something free to try: Modrinth, SpigotMC free resources, or the free listings on BuiltByBit.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose where to buy Minecraft plugins?

Start with where the author posts the plugin, then read that marketplace's terms. Check the supported versions, last update, reviews and dependencies on the listing. Whatever you pick, test the purchase on a copy of your server first.

What happened to Polymart?

The polymart.org address now redirects to voxel.shop. Voxel.shop blocked our automated visit, so we could not confirm its fees, categories or refund terms. Read them on the site before buying.

Where can I find Minecraft builds, setups and textures, not only plugins?

BuiltByBit lists categories for server setups, builds, textures and models. PixelEast lists plugins, building schematics and textures. SpigotMC and Hangar are mainly for plugins, while Modrinth carries resource packs and data packs for textures.

Are there free marketplaces for Minecraft plugins?

Modrinth is free to browse and download from; the LuckPerms listing there is free and MIT licensed. SpigotMC and BuiltByBit both carry free resources next to paid ones, and our team makes a free model pack.

How do I check a plugin before adding it to my server?

Read the supported versions, last update date, reviews, dependencies and the author's replies. Install it on a copy of your server with a backup of the live one, and watch the console for errors before moving it over.
